As the leading system in the country for recruitment of new roles under the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (AARS), with 693 FTE ARRs in BSol, we know the huge difference these hundreds of new staff members are making in primary care. However, we also know that our patients often don’t know about the new roles and can sometimes be hesitant to seeing a healthcare professional other than their GP. With this in mind, the GP Provider Support Unit have collaborated with the BSol Training Hub to co-produce a series of case study videos with ARRS staff in our local PCN workforce. They are helping to ensure patients receive the Right Access First Time and these videos help our patients to understand how.

One of the additional roles that work within our teams are First Contact Practitioner Physiotherapists. They are the first point of contact for patients experiencing musculoskeletal problems and they help patients be seen faster and reduce the need for further referrals in to other services.
