As the leading system in the country for recruitment of new roles under the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (AARS), with 693 FTE ARRs in BSol, we know the huge difference these hundreds of new staff members are making in primary care. However, we also know that our patients often don’t know about the new roles and can sometimes be hesitant to seeing a healthcare professional other than their GP. With this in mind, the GP Provider Support Unit have collaborated with the BSol Training Hub to co-produce a series of case study videos with ARRS staff in our local PCN workforce. They are helping to ensure patients receive the Right Access First Time and these videos help our patients to understand how.

One of the additional roles that work within our teams are Social Prescribing Link Workers. They are able to provide a holistic approach to patients, focusing on what matters to them and tailoring support to their individual needs. They can connect people to community and statutory organisations to help them improve their well-being and for practical and emotional support. There are 58 FTE Social Prescribing Link Workers in BSol ICB, as of November 2023.
