Medical Receptionist / Care Navigator
Description

We are looking for a friendly, organised, and proactive Medical Receptionist / Care Navigator to join our busy and supportive healthcare team. This is an important front-line role where you will be the first point of contact for patients, helping ensure they receive the right care from the right service at the right time.

The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong telephone manner and ability to deal with a wide range of people
  • A calm, empathetic, and professional manner under pressure
  • IT and administrative skills including the use of email and Microsoft office packages
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in care navigation or signposting patients to appropriate services
  • An understanding of confidentially and data protection principles (GDPR)
  • An awareness of safeguarding principles for adults and children
Responsibilities
  • Greeting patients and visitors in a professional and compassionate manner, in person and over the telephone
  • Book, reschedule and cancel patient appointments using the clinical system
  • Handle incoming phone calls, triage queries and signpost patients to the most appropriate clinician or healthcare service
  • Process prescription requests and liaise with GP’s and Pharmacists where necessary
  • Register new patients and maintaining accurate patient records using clinical systems
  • Manage patient queries regarding test results, referrals and general practice information
  • Handling confidential information in line with GDPR, NHS Guidelines and practice policies
  • Supporting clinicians and the wider practice team with administrative duties
  • Assist with referrals to secondary care and community services
  • Process incoming and outgoing correspondence
  • Scan, file and code clinical documents into patient records
