Welcome

Hosting Students

Primary care is a key process in a health system that provides promotive, protective, preventive, curative, rehabilitative, and palliative services throughout the life course.  Primary health care (PHC) is a broader whole-of-society approach with three components: (a) primary care and essential public health functions as a core of integrated health services; (b) multisectoral policy and action; and (c) empowered people and communities (WHO 2024).

There is an increasing emphasis on primary health care and the services it offers, in a response to the overwhelming burden on NHS secondary care services.

With your help, BSol Training Hub would like to develop more exposure opportunities for student nurses to allow them to experience this important area of healthcare, with a view to it creating a career option on qualification.

Please find below some information to assist us to showcase primary care as a desirable place to work.

Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment (SSSA)

These standards set out the roles and responsibilities of practice supervisors and assessors, and how they must make sure students receive high-quality learning, support and supervision during their practice placements. They also set expectations for the learning, support and supervision of students in the practice environment as well as setting out how students are assessed for theory and practice learning.

Practice supervisors and assessors should use these standards to ensure the best possible learning experience for students.

ePAD User Guide – for Students, Academic and Practice Assessors

The ePad is an electronic portfolio containing all practice documentation required for the duration of a student’s journey in practice and will provide a comprehensive record of the student’s professional development and performance in practice.

The ePAD will allow practice supervisors/practice assessors and academic assessors the opportunity to securely view, comment on and assess student.
